Self-Regulation and Strategies

Being able to control your emotions and thoughts come from being able to self-regulate. A big part of success within self-regulation comes in early childhood where you learn to follow directions, calm down, figure out how to deep breath, and waiting for one's turn whether that is to talk or play a game. Throughout the preschool period the child's brain that is linked to self-regulation begins to grow very rapidly. Teachers play a crucial role by modeling composer in difficult situations, setting routines that work for students, and adapting to emotional supportive environments.
